A collaborative program to develop new diabetes and cancer treatments

The Biomedical Science Discovery (BIDSI) program seeks to develop new treatments for diabetes and cancer through innovative AI-based target discovery and drug target validation tools. A first of its kind for their bilateral relations, the UAE and Flanders are thus teaming up in a one-of-a-kind exchange program to improve healthcare.

Secondly, we aim to develop the first drug in the UAE and to commercialize BISDI targets and translate these drugs into the clinic.

Building the future

By championing top research, the Biomedical Science Discovery (BISDI) Program aspires to help create a world-class biomedical ecosystem in Abu Dhabi and Leuven to address pressing healthcare challenges in the UAE and Belgium, even globally.

"The BISDI program is a strategic partnership and a win-win. On the one hand, it boosts our research to identify better targets for the treatment of diabetes. On the other hand, it accelerates the empowerment of VIB as a center of excellence for modern life science research in Abu Dhabi."
