Khalifa University

The Khalifa University Center of Excellence in Biotechnology (BTC) aims to develop a knowledge economy in bioscience and competencies in laboratory diagnostic practice. One of its key projects is the studying of genomes and their impact on diseases such as type II diabetes. The BTC employs its resources to achieve excellence in relevant research areas, which aim to support the healthcare sectors of both the UAE and around the world.

VIB-KU Leuven

The Carmeliet lab at VIB-KU Leuven in Belgium focuses on unraveling the molecular and cellular basis of the formation of blood vessels (angiogenesis) in health and disease. In particular, the team studies the role of vascular metabolism and vascular heterogeneity in angiogenesis, with the ultimate goal of identifying novel therapeutic pro- or anti-angiogenic strategies.

Abu Dhabi Cleveland Clinic

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

As part of the BISDI project, and with support of an Abu Dhabi Research and Innovation Grant, clinicians from the Abu Dhabi Cleveland Clinic collect research samples from diabetic patients. These samples are instrumental for several research lines within the BISDI program.
